Blink-182 is a United States-based rock band. The band’s debut album “Cheshire Cat” was released in 1995 and it was a hit album as it ranked on top charts on several countries.
Inception
Blink-182 was first named as Blink before another Ireland based band was named as Blink threatened to take legal action against them. The second phrase of the name “- 182” doesn’t actually have any meaning according to the band’s founders. Blink–182 was found in 1992 in Poway in California.
Tom DeLonge first met Scott Raynor at Battle of the Bands competition during the time when he was expelled from Poway High School and had to do a semester at another school as he went to the Rancho Bernardo High School. He met Mark Hoppus after becoming friends with Kerry Key when her friend Anne Hoppus introduced her brother Mark Hoppus. So, Blink–182 main founders are Tom DeLonge, Scott Raynor and Mark Hoppus.
Tom DeLonge kicked out and fired Scott Raynor around the middle of 1998 because he was drinking a lot and Travis Barker joined the band by that time. Tom DeLonge left the band in 2005 because the members had different arguments that came up during rehearsals. Currently, Blink–182 members are Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker and Matt Skiba.
Career
Blink–182’s first album that was distributed and sold is titled “Buddha”, which was released in January 1994. After a year, their debut studio album “Cheshire Cat” was released but it didn’t have much of commercial success according to them.
Blink–182’s breakthrough success began with their 3rd studio album “Enema of the State” which successfully ranked on top charts in more than 15 countries across the whole world. The band’s self-titled studio album “Blink-182” is their 5th and it received many positive reviews next to giving them their debut at one on the Canadian Albums chart next to receiving several awards for it.
Blink–182’s latest released album “California” achieved huge success as it peaked at one on many charts such as the US Top Rock Albums chart, US Billboard 200 chart, Czech Albums chart, Canadian Albums among others.
