Our purpose is to provide information that is understandable, responsibly sourced and useful to readers. These standards apply to newly published articles and to older material when it undergoes a substantial review.
Our editorial principles
Our contributors and editors are expected to follow five basic principles:
- Accuracy: Verify important facts before publication.
- Transparency: Distinguish confirmed facts, reported claims and editorial estimates.
- Attribution: Identify the sources behind material claims whenever practical.
- Fairness: Avoid presenting rumor, allegation or opinion as established fact.
- Accountability: Correct significant errors when reliable evidence shows that a published statement is inaccurate.
We do not claim that every publicly reported detail is certain. Public information can be incomplete, outdated or disputed. When uncertainty affects a conclusion, we aim to explain it clearly.
Sources we use
The appropriate sources depend on the subject and the information being verified. We generally prioritize:
- Regulatory filings, court records and other official documents
- Company reports and government publications
- Official websites and attributable public statements
- Direct interviews and verified accounts
- Established news organizations and specialist trade publications
- Recognized databases, books and reference materials
Social-media posts may be used when they come from a verified or otherwise authenticated account and are relevant to what the person or organization has publicly stated. A social-media post is not automatically treated as independent confirmation.
Wikipedia, search snippets, other net-worth websites and user-generated databases may help identify possible research leads, but they should not serve as the sole authority for a material claim.
Verification before publication
Before publishing or materially updating an article, contributors are expected to check the information most important to the subject. Depending on the article, this may include:
- Correct spelling and identification of the subject
- Career positions and significant dates
- Company ownership and business relationships
- Publicly reported earnings, contracts or transactions
- Current marital or professional status when relevant
- Attributed quotations
- Financial figures and the dates to which they apply
- Links to sources supporting consequential claims
The level of verification should increase when an article involves financial information, legal proceedings, disputed events or claims that could affect a person’s reputation.
Attribution and quotations
Information taken from another publication should be attributed to that publication. Direct quotations must not be presented without identifying their speaker and source.
We aim to link to useful original or authoritative material when it is publicly accessible. A link does not necessarily mean that WealthyPersons endorses every statement made by the external source.
We avoid copying substantial portions of other publications. Sources are used to verify and support our own reporting and explanation.
Reporting on private lives and disputed claims
Public interest does not eliminate a person’s right to reasonable privacy.
We avoid publishing private contact information, unsupported accusations or personal details that have no meaningful connection to the article. Information involving family members should be handled carefully, particularly when those individuals are not public figures.
When covering allegations, legal proceedings or disputed accounts, we aim to:
- Attribute the information to an identifiable source
- Describe the status of the matter accurately
- Avoid implying guilt from an accusation alone
- Include a relevant response or denial when reliably available
- Update the article when a material outcome becomes known
Net-worth estimates
Net-worth figures are estimates unless the subject or an authoritative financial disclosure confirms otherwise.
An estimate may consider publicly reported assets, business interests, shareholdings, earnings and other available information. It may also need to account for debt, taxes, expenses, ownership percentages and uncertainty.
We do not treat another entertainment website’s estimate as independent proof. Our approach is explained in our Net Worth Methodology.
Artificial intelligence
WealthyPersons may use artificial-intelligence tools to assist with tasks such as research organization, transcription, outlining, language editing or identifying areas requiring verification.
AI output is not treated as a factual source. Material facts produced or suggested by an automated tool must be checked against reliable sources before publication.
A human contributor or editor remains responsible for the accuracy, originality and editorial judgment of published content. We do not knowingly use AI to fabricate quotations, sources, credentials, personal experiences or financial evidence.
Advertising, affiliate links and sponsored content
Commercial relationships should not determine the conclusions of independently prepared editorial articles.
Paid or sponsored content must be identified in a way readers can understand. Affiliate relationships should be disclosed when WealthyPersons may receive compensation following a reader’s action.
Advertisers and commercial partners do not receive permission to secretly rewrite independent editorial conclusions. Additional information is available in our Advertising Policy.
Article updates
An article may be updated when:
- New reliable information becomes available
- A financial estimate requires revision
- A person changes position, relationship or professional status
- A company announces a relevant transaction
- A source becomes unavailable
- An error or misleading statement is identified
- The article requires improved context or sourcing
A modified date indicates that an article has changed, but it does not necessarily mean that every historical detail was independently reverified on that date.
Corrections
Material factual errors are corrected according to our Corrections Policy. Minor spelling, grammar or formatting changes may be made without a formal correction notice when they do not alter the article’s meaning.
Our historical archive
WealthyPersons contains articles originally published under earlier management. The current team is progressively reviewing this archive.
Some older articles may not yet meet every part of the present editorial standard. Readers should consider the displayed publication and modification dates and report possible errors through our correction process.
