Unfortunately, he met with an accident when he was practicing for the 1967 Gator Bowl, which gave him a knee injury. This prevented him from playing for a few seasons. He was also a part of 1968 and 1969 teams that won the Orange Bowl twice in 1968 and 1969. His final score for his college career was 778 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, and four receiving touchdowns.

His professional career started when he was recruited by the Dallas Cowboys in 1970 for the seventh round of NFL draft, where he played as the linebacker. He then played with the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League in 1971. He left the team on 23rd July 1971 and later joined New York Stars on 9th April 1974 for the World Football League, but he left the team on 26th June 1974.
