On July 29, 1962, Beverly Ann Merril was born in Wayne, New Jersey, U.S, to a 15year old mother of Sicilian heritage. She was, however, adopted and brought up in Pennsylvania. In her autobiography, The Naked Truth, Staub revealed that she was sexually abused by multiple relatives at the age of 8. However, she started fighting back at the age of 11.

In 1993 she got married to Thomas Staub. The couple has two daughters, Christine and Jillian. The couple divorced in 2007. Staub later got engaged to Marty Caffrey in 2017, and the two wedded in May 2018; however, in August the same year, it was announced the couple would divorce. The two later divorced on 21 February 2019, and by March 2019, Danielle had been engaged 21 times.
